Break In!
So here is the scenario, you are sitting
in your family room, watching TV and all
the sudden you hear a crash, wood splintering,
debris flying and your heart begins to race.
You get up and run over to your front door
to see what’s going on. Just then, a huge
thug comes running past you, pillaging, damaging
and ransacking your house, grabbing all the
valuables he can without even acknowledging
your presence. What do you do? A couple of
things cross your mind, you either try and
down this guy and stop him from doing any
more damage, get on the phone and call 911
and get some officers over to your house
lickety-split or you find your loved ones
in the house and get them out of harms way.
Whatever comes first, all of these are on
the must-do list. Even though the adrenaline
is running and your heart racing, you know
what needs to be done. Now let’s change the
scenario just slightly, remember, it’s the
same scenario just from a different perspective.
You are in your spiritual "house",
your family room and this thug comes in.
He attacks, either your finances, your health,
your livelihood or even your peace. He comes
at you with that unexpected bill, stealing
your financial provision. He reeks havoc
on your body or the health of your loved
one, stealing your joy and breaking your
"Jesus" focus. He comes at you
at your place of work, through that coworker
that makes your life miserable, backbiting
and hindering your every move. Is the scenario
all that different? No. And the fact is you
know what you need to do. You need to take
this guy out, he needs to be taken down and
duct taped and gagged in the spiritual sense
until the authorities come and give him the
boot. The bible tells us, "And I will
give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven,
and whatever you bind on earth will be bound
in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth
will be loosed in heaven." Mtthw 16:19.
We know who this guy is, we’ve been told
about him, and have seen him before, we know
where he lives. "For we do not wrestle
against flesh and blood, but against principalities,
against powers, against the rulers of the
darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts
of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13
Therefore take up the whole armor of God,
that you may be able to withstand in the
evil day, and having done all, to stand."
Eph 6:12-13. "The thief does not come
except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.
I have come that they may have life, and
that they may have it more abundantly."
John 10:10. So don’t just sit there, if someone
was breaking in to our home, we wouldn’t
sit around and complain about it, we wouldn’t
call all of our friends and tell them about
the awful thing that was happening, we would
jump up off our couch and put this guy out
of commission. We would stop him right then
from doing any more damage. When that bank-account
crushing bill comes from out of the blue,
do what you need to do!
Second, call the authorities! Get down on
your knees and pray for help! Call spiritual
911. And think about it, would you call 911
and say, "there is a guy in my house
taking all my stuff, why? Why is this happening?"
The operator isn’t really interested in the
"why" they just want to know how
they can send you help. Exercise your authority!
Bind him now! Get the officers in their cars
and on their way! "Are not all angels
ministering spirits sent to serve those who
will inherit salvation?" Hebrews 1:14
God has no intention of leaving you high
and dry without any help in these situations.
"Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the LORD delivers him out of them all."
Psalm 34:19. You will make it out of this,
just don’t sit around and let it happen.
He’s ready to deliver you and be your help.
"Let us therefore come boldly to the
throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy
and find grace to help in time of need."
Hebrews 4:16 Pray for a protection barrier
around your family, "Have You not made
a hedge around him, around his household,
and around all that he has on every side?
You have blessed the work of his hands, and
his possessions have increased in the land."
Job 1:10 You have hedged me behind and before,
And laid Your hand upon me. Psalm 139:5.
Raise up your shield of faith and deflect
every fiery dart. Above all, taking the shield
of faith with which you will be able to quench
all the fiery darts of the wicked one. Ephesians
6:16
Don’t just let this guy pillage. Remember,
keep your head. Bind him up, call for help
and get your loved ones to safety.
A Message
"How sweet are Your words to my taste,
Sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through Your
precepts I get understanding; Therefore I
hate every false way. Your word is a lamp
unto my feet and a light to my path."
Psalm 119:103 -105
