Deenur (Yiddish for servant) Gill, 42, married 17 years, three kids. Trainer at the Lord's Gym, CEO of stronginspirit.com, author (novel coming out in January, 2006, (Virginia Pines Press), writer for Bodybuilding.com and mysupplementstore.com, minister (in a really "interesting" neighborhood in Southwest Washington, the police have named this zone AREA 51, but my wife has renamed it PSALM 51: create in me a clean heart!). I enjoy handguns, bass fishing and NASCAR, but I AM NOT a redneck. I Like old movies (Bogart, John Wayne), VeggieTales and think that THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST was one of the most amazing movies ever made. I like very little coming out of Hollywood after the 60's. One of my passions is to expose the work of the enemy through our media sources, and have ruffled quite a few feathers over it. See some of the columns for an example of what I'm talking about.

1. What is your favorite scripture?

This is soooo hard, because there isn't really a favorite. It would be hard for me to even break it down to a favorite book... but I guess that the discussions Jesus had with his followers about him being the Way the Truth and the Life. Because if we didn't have access through the shed blood of Jesus everything else would be extraneous anyway. (John 14:16 - I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.)

2. Who were your childhood heros?

I didn't have one actually. Do you really want me to go into this here? I was a kid who started life at 3 as an adopted kid so I dealt with massive rejection issues. In grammar school and into junior high I was the fat kid (asthma and steroid treatments), in high school I was the alcoholic party animal. It's kind of sad, but I can truly say that I am a rescued soul... I love God so much.

3. If you could meet anyone from the bible, other than Jesus, who would it be?

Job. Because I want him to explain that when God was saying to the devil "All that Job has is yours", God was speaking a statement of Job's condition not satan's permission. Job gave Satan
permission to all of his stuff including his family through fear. Everybody wants to blame God that he cut a deal with Satan. That just doesn't line up with the entire rest of His word. I want Job to tell everyone that the stuff he went through didn't have to happen, if he hadn't been fearful, and worried about his family and his stuff. I think if we read it again though, we can get the real meat of what happened. I have met Christians who are so bound up with worry, and a lack of vulnerability to God because they don't know if God is going to do them next like he did to Job. That sounds like the work of the enemy doesn't it? (sorry, most of the time I can't talk without preaching).

4. What is a typical day in your life like?
Not like its going to be, I'll tell you that. Right now I get up about 6 am and start my day with prayer with my wife, drive to my full time job, and spend evenings working in ministry and as a trainer at THE LORD'S GYM. Saturdays I try to do some family things (3 kids), but many times ministry opportunities crop up, and Sundays are at least one service, sometimes two. Whew. But God is taking us to a place of full time ministry, and I can hardly wait to get there!

5. What biblical figure do you most identify with?

Peter... big mouth, big heart, big desire to do ANYTHING God asks, but finding himself sometimes with a check that his mouth wrote, and his will not able to cash..

6. What trait do you like most about yourself?

I love God, I have been called hyper-spiritual because I see everything as a spiritual issue (or connected). If everything is not a spritual issue, I'd like the list of things that aren't please. :) I got offended by the comments at first, but now I just see it as a compliment because I am sandpapering someone's flesh (hopefull not with my flesh, that doesn't do anybody any good).

7. What trait do you like least about yourself?

I am having the Lord walk me thru victory over selfishness. I have been so self centered at times. But the key to victory is love. We cannot be self centered and love centered at the same time. And Jesus said WE MUST BE love centered. Our faith works by love, our gifts operate by love, everything we do hinges on love.

8. How have you been able to represent God in your sport?

I have the most excellent opportunity at the Lord's Gym. I am a trainer and equipment specialist and have had the opportunity to minister to a lot of people while setting them up on workout or eating programs. So far (off the top of my head) I have had a chance to minister to a nam addicted to oxycotin, a lady and her daughtrer looking for housing, two men trying to quit smoking, a lady who had her back fused and wanted strengthening exercises, an obese lady who needed an eating program... and on and on. There's almost as much ministry time as weight training, thank the Lord!

9. If you could change one thing about your sport, what would it be?

Steroid use. I hate it, and I hate when people defend it. I had the opportunity to try D-BOL once ( a former NFL linebacker gave it to me) and it made me go temporarily crazy. I wrote an artcile on a prominant Bodybuilding website (bodybuilding.com) which called into accountability the use of steroids. You should have seen what people called me. We couldn't list it here. It's rampant, it's wrong and it's a problem for Christians who want to get into the higher levels of the sport.

10. If you were to die today and go to heaven, what would you like to hear God say?

Well done and Thank you for living like you love others and you love me. Wow, that would be awesome!
