| OK, I am sure you have all heard of the Hack
Squat machine or the Hack Squat sled,
but
we are going to reintroduce the mother
of
these inventions - the true hack squat!
It
will definitely feel a little awkward
until
you get the hang of the movement, but
believe
me, it will hit your quads like nobody's
business! Start by placing a bench behind you so that when you squat down, your behind will touch the bench and your thighs will be at parallel or slightly below. Place your heals on a flat piece of 2 x 4 and have your barbell behind you resting against the back of your heels. Grab the bar a shoulder width or wider using a regular grip or a cross grip, whichever you prefer. Stand up to the starting position and then squat down until your behind lightly touches the bench, then stand up to the starting position taking care not to totally lock out your knees. Keep your shoulders back and your back as straight as possible. You won't believe how this will hit your quads with no strain to the spine. Hack Squat - 8 sets x 8 reps You won't be sorry, but you will be sore! |
