Joel was born in Venezuela on April 24, 1972. After graduating with a
bachelor's degree in Computer Science, he now works as a computer programmer
for a large insurance company. From a very young age, He was always
interested in fitness and nutrition. At age 28, he entered his first
bodybuilding competition and took first place in his weight class. As of
today, he has competed four times and has always placed in the top two in
his weight class. Joel says, "I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior at the age of15
and Jesus transformed and continues to transform my life. I acknowledge
Jesus in everything I do and He has always guided my steps and helped me."
1) What is your favorite Scripture?

"Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are
like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as
crimson, they shall be like wool. Isaiah 1:18

2) Who were your childhood heroes?

Popeye and Superman

3) If you could meet anyone from the Bible, who would it be and why?
You can't say Jesus, we all want to and we prayerfully will one day!

It would have to be Samson. He is the closest to a comic book superhero,
with God given super human strength.

4) What is a typical day in your life like?

I get up at 4:30 AM and go to the gym. After completing my workout I go
back home, kiss my wife good-bye as she leaves for work, prepare and eat my
breakfast, pack my meals for the day, shower and get ready for work. I
drive to work with the radio turned off so that I can pray out loud without
distraction...keeping my eyes open and on the road of course. I sit in
front of a computer at work most of the day, attend meetings, eat and drink
water. I eat six meals a day and drink at least a gallon of water. After
work, I go home and sometimes cook dinner for my wife and I. My wife and I
take turns cooking. I spend my evenings with my wife, eating dinner,
watching TV or DVDs, reading or talking.

5) What Biblical figure do you most identify with and why?

Samson. Though we don't know what he might have looked like, and though we
know his super human strength came not from his muscles, I've always
pictured him looking like a bodybuilder. Also, Samson made mistakes, but he
repented and asked God to forgive him and God had mercy on him.

6) What trait do you like most about yourself?

I try to always be positive, even when things are going wrong.

7) What trait do you least like about yourself?

I'm too proud sometimes.

8) How have you been able to represent God in your sport?

I have created a website (http://www.joelrodriguez.com) where I share my
experience with exercise and nutrition, and where I share my experience with
Jesus Christ. I have received e-mails from people who have been blessed by
reading about Jesus on my website.

9) If you could change one thing in your sport, what would it be?

Drug test every event.

10) If you were to die today and go to heaven, what would you like to hear
God say?

"Well done, good and faithful servant!"
Well, there you have it! We want to thank Joel so very much for participating and we wish him well and pray for God's blessings to be upon him and his family!
