Mark is a 43 year old divorced father of two young boys, Tyler and Jacob.  Mark practices dentistry in Cleveland, Ohio suburbs.  Mark is a relatively new natural competitor and his transformation has been featured in the book, "The Leanness Lifestyle," by Dave Greenwalt.  Mark began seriously lifting and competiting only 5 years ago, during his divorce, and began a sprirtual journey which has brought him ever closer to the Lord.    The story of Mark's 50lb transformation can be found on his website www.markdomo.com/leanness_lifestyle.htm

1) What's your favorite Scripture?

Matthew 22:37-39   "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.  This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it:  Love your neighbor as yourself."   This says it all, doesn't it?  It sums up how to make a decision and live your life in nearly every situation.  I like the saying "WWJD."  I often try to remember it when making a decision.  Sometimes it's hard to think,  "What would Jesus do?"

2) Who were your childhood heroes?

My dad.  He was a policeman and I loved him very much.  He always seemed larger than life.

3) If you could meet anyone from the Bible, who would
it be and why?
You can't say Jesus, we all want to and we prayerfully

will one day!

(I hate your rule that you can't answer Jesus.  I want SO much to meet Him.)   Moses.  I would love to meet the person whom, though "slow of tongue," God chose to lead a nation.  It inspires me to know that God can use us for purposes beyond our imagination in spite of our failures, insecurities, and impediments.

4) What is a typical day in your life like?

Every day is completely different for me.  I'm a divorced dad, so time with my kids is a primary goal.   Because of that I schedule my workout days around their visitation days.  My workdays revolve around my appointment schedule, and every person that comes in brings a fresh set of issues to deal with.    I try to eat clean, give a full day at work and hit my workouts 4 days per week.  I'm trying to learn to connect to the Lord through prayer in constant segments throughout the day.

5) What Biblical figure do you most identify with &
why
?

I seem to identify most with Peter.  I mean well, but somehow I often seem to need a little chiding to get back on the right path.

6) What trait do you like most about yourself?

My sincere desire to be honest and try my best at all I do.  I try in every way, every day, to be as open and honest in the things that I do.  To give it my all.

7) What trait do you least like about yourself?

I have a philosophy in life that most people's worst trait is their best trait taken to an extreme.  My passion for life often takes on a life of it's own and clouds my judgment.  My desire for excellence sometimes causes me to miss the bigger picture.

8) How have you been able to represent God in your
sport?

My sport and my career have been excellent vehicles to be God's representative.  I have been able to help people, literally throughout the world, via the Internet, with their transformations by encouragement and kind words.  I have used my websites www.markdomo.com and www.drdomo.com to express my Christianity.  It truly amazes me when I get an email from half a world away with compliments and looking for advice or just a kind word of encouragement. In October, I was blessed to travel to the Baja Sur of Mexico on a dental-medical mission to spread Christianity through the healing arts.   Things as simple as a friendly helping hand in the gym can be a door opening to changing another life.  A casual conversation can lead to greater things.  If not just an invitation to church.

9) If you could change one thing in your sport, what
would it be?

I don't like the pettiness that goes on.  The childish jealousy that takes place in biting comments and demeaning words.  It's so nice to be at a competition, or simply working out, with folks who are supportive and complimentary.  "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger."  Proverbs 15:1  I'm not sure how much of the junk in the BB magazines is just hype to sell magazines, but I see a lot of petty jealousy behind the scenes.  I guess I just like the kinder, gentler approach.

10) If you were to die today and go to heaven, what
would you like to hear God say?

I absolutely love the response that some of your past athletes have responded: "Well done, good and faithful servant."  I wish I could answer that myself.  But I'm afraid I've fallen so short in my life, I would be thrilled to hear, simply:  "Welcome, I've been waiting for you."
