1) What's your favorite Scripture?

Phil 4:13. It was written on the inside of my first Bible I received when I invited Jesus into my heart.

2)Who were your childhood heroes?

I don’t know that I had a childhood hero. I admired Annette Funicello and I had the wildest crush on young Elvis Presley (ok I’m really dating myself, I know)

3)If you could meet anyone from the Bible, who would it be and why? You can't say Jesus, we all want to and we prayerfully will one day!

I would like to meet Esther. I admire her so much for her courage and her obedience to the authorities over her.

4)What is a typical day in your life like?

I usually start my day on the treadmill for 30 minutes and then have breakfast and time in prayer. My mornings are spent training clients and early afternoon I schedule my own workout. Late afternoon through early evening I train more clients and usually end up back in the gym with my lifting partner to get another cardio session in.

5)What Biblical figure do you most identify with & why?

I think I most identify with Hannah. She spent years longing for her heart’s desire (a child) and suffered persecution that made her feel worse. Then one day something changed in her spirit and she more or less confronted the Lord with her petition and the Lord heard her. When I have struggled with issues to the point of confronting the Lord, He seemed to respond right away with exactly what I needed, much like He responded to Hannah.

6)What trait do you like most about yourself?

That I am a good listener and I really do care about people. I want to love people the way that God does and I want to make a difference in people’s lives by helping them love and take care of themselves.

7)What trait do you least like about yourself?

My impatience and detachment when I’m tired.

8)How have you been able to represent God in your sport?

When people find out my age, they often ask how I stay looking young. I tell them that I have peace and joy from God and that it is Him that enables me to do what I do. I believe that it is the Lord who supernaturally blesses every set and rep I do so that I get the best results.

9)If you could change one thing in your sport, what would it be?

I would like to change the misconception that bodybuilding, fitness, and figure competitions are about promoting sex. I wish every Christian could or would attend just one competition so that they could experience what it is really about. I would also like to see healthier kinds of opportunities be available to female competitors, besides sexy marketing campaigns. The industry, and especially the Church, needs good instructors, nutritionists, motivational speakers, teachers, etc to help people make healthy changes in their lives.

10)If you were to die today and go to heaven, what would you like to hear God say?

Well done and welcome home, Maxine! You did it! (and a big hug)

Thank you Maxine for sharing with us! We pray for your success in all that you do, bringing glory to God!
