April 2006
They're Waiting

Greetings all! Here comes April and the celebration of the resurrection of our Lord and Savior! The time when we were officially able to gain access to heaven! Thank you Jesus! Thank you God! I know I am not worthy, but I am ever so thankful. Thankful for His mercy and thankful for His Grace. Let it rain down on us like those April showers. I wait for the day when I am called home and rejoice at the thought that I will spend eternity there with Jesus and God the Father! Life is like that, isn't it? Waiting I mean. We wait in lines, we wait for the movie to start, we wait for payday. We wait alot!

One of the things I love about weights and weight lifting is the faithfulness of the weights. HUH?!? Did he just say that weights are faithful? Why, they're inanimate! They are an object, they have no emotion, no feeling! AH, you may think so, but that isn't the case! To me, weights are like a faithful old dog. They are always there when I step into my gym and turn on the light, waiting for me just like I left them. They don't mock me or smirk because I missed a few days of training or I gained a few pounds. They greet me with a cold silence - a daring silence. They are there to push me to my limits. I hear them talk to me, "Are you ready Bobby? I am. Let's get to it! I bet you won't get out 8 this time." Not mocking, but challenging, pushing me to extend myself, pushing me for that extra rep. Like an old dog, they don't judge me and get on my case if I miss the 8th rep. "That's OK pal, you'll get 8 next time," they can be heard to say. When I left the weights alone for two years, they sat silently waiting for me. They didn't complain that I didn't pay any attention to them; they waited patiently. And when I returned, they were ready for me. Ready to pit muscle versus metal once again. No judging, just waiting.

God is lilke that; He's waiting. He sent His Son down to earth to die for our sins and when that was completed, He waited. He waits for us to come to Him. Into our lives come various people, who if we pay attention, are there to bring us to Him. Remember the person or two who asked you if you heard the good news or if you found Jesus? I remember them well and way back when I called them Jesus freaks or Holy rollers. Now, I am one of them, a Jesus freak, thank God! He's waiting. He waits for you to say that you believe that His Son died for you and that He rose from the dead and all of your sins are forgiven. He's waiting. He's waiting for you to open that Bible and read all of the promises He has in store for you. Eternal life in Heaven on streets paved with gold where noone hungers and everyone is healthy, the blessings of Deuteronomy 28 and so much more! He's waiting. He's waiting to shower you with love, grace and mercy. God is faithful to those that love Him. ( “Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments." - Deuteronomy 7:9). Now if you are reading this and you are already saved, think of it as a reminder or as a tool to go out and plant some seeds. If you aren't then this is for you. This is for you to think about, ponder, meditate on. God is waiting for YOU! Jesus waits. The heavens wait, the angels wait. They wait for you to accpet Jesus so that when you do they can sing and celebrate another life saved! He's waiting.

And now our prayer. Father We thank you for your patience even when we were not your saved children. Thank You for Your awesome gift in Jesus. Forgive us when we lose sight of your wonderfulness and you patience with us, the sinners that we are. Thank you for your grace and mercy! We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Now go with God and lift that iron!
