May Newsletter
Another newsletter hot off the
presses! Well,
off of the monitor at least.
So what has
been going on this past month?
Well, let's
see...spring has sprung and the
all is in
full bloom! It's great to see
God's handiwrok
erupt in a world of color right
before your
very eyes, isn't it? I love the
contrasts
in color as the trees and plants
yawn and
stretch, awakening from their
winter sleep
to treat us to a myriad of greens,
pinks,
whites and a score of other colors.
The animals
shake the winter slumber from
their bodies
and begin scurrying about in
a frenzy of
spring fever. Even our dog acts
differently,
pulling at the leash as she goes
on her walk,
wanting to smell all the new
smells that
come with Spring. And most important
of all,
the Resurrestion of our Lord
Jesus Christ
is celebrated! Can it get any
better than
that?
We've been busy as far as the
contest is
concerned, although we have been
having a
time of it trying to secure a
date and location.
We are working on it though,
and ask for
your prayer support. If you have
any experience
in these types of ventures and
would like
to lend a hand, email us! Nothing
can be
stronger than those working together
for
the good of God and His glory!
We will be
posting the bands on the Contest
page and
we ask that you give your support
to them
and their ministries through
prayer, going
to see them, or whatever way
God directs
you. We have been in contact
with the Power
Team, Lee Haney and Russ Testo
and plan on
having them all at the expo.
We're really
excited about this and look forward
to meeting
them!
Speaking of Lee Haney...I have
been into
bodybuilding for some time, and
back in the
days when Lee Haney was the reigning
Mr.
Olympia - 8 times, by the way.
I would read
all about him. Who would have
thought that
I would someday get the chance
to talk to
him, let alone meet him? Did
I say talk to
him? Sorry, I haven't done that
yet. My wife
has however! Can you believe
it? She nonchalantly
said to me, "guess who called
today?"
Not knowing who, I replied as
such and she
said,"Lee Haney, and he
is such a nice
person!" I asked her if
she knew who
Lee Haney was. She said she didn't
and I
told her who he was and that
he was an 8-time
Mr. Olympia! Not even Arnold
can say that!Can
you imagine!
We have also been in contact
with Nikita
Koloff! Yes, you read that right!
Nikita
Koloff of the Pro Wrestling circuit!
He has
a ministry now and some of his
fellow Christian
wrestlers are none other than
Sting, The
Million Dollar Man - Ted DiBiase,
Ivan Koloff,
Lash Leroux, Greg Valentine,
Buff Bagwell
and others! They are all part
of the UWA
- Ultimate Wresting Action and
you can check
them out at http://www.nikitakoloff.com.
It would be awesome if we could
include them
in this expo so please pray!
We have certainly gotten some
good feedback
and traffic considering the site
has only
been up for a few months. We
have had emails
from up north in Minnesota to
down south
in Texas and as far away as Europe.
it's
great to see that Christian bodybuilders
are all over the world! Who knows?
If it
is in God's plan, perhaps there
will be a
worldwide contest one day! Now,
wouldn't
that be awesome? Hey! Where are
the pictures?
That's what we keep saying to
ourselves!
Send us some of your pics and
we'll post
them if they are appropriate.
Does this happen to anyone else
out there
but me? I'm driving along in
my car and frantically
searching on the radio for a
good station.
No, not a rock or retro 80s type
station,
but a good Christian station
where I can
get a good lesson from the likes
of Chuck
Swindoll or another pastor who
knows just
how to get to the heart of a
matter and really
make you feel conviction. On
that note, I
miss my old pastor. When he preached
a lesson,
I would think to myself, "does
he have
my house bugged? Boy, he is surely
talking
to me and me alone!" Then
I would look
around and see the same expression
on at
least two dozen faces! You just
knew the
Lord was working in him!
I tell my wife that I am constantly
amazed
and at the same time I rejoice
at the number
of people who are professing
the Christian
faith. Especially in the field
of professional
sports. I am a die-hard New York
Football
Giants fan and always will be.
As a Giants
fan, you naturally detest the
Cowboys. I
never really had much interest
in Troy Aikman
as a player. He was afterall,
the Cowboys
QB. When I was saved and then
learned he
was a Christian too, I felt bad
for all those
times I rooted for him to be
knocked out
of a game. It gave me a whole
new respect
for him. These are the types
of atheletes
our kids should emulate if they
choose to
do so. The players who spit at
umpires or
treat fans like lower life forms
because
they feel that being a pro athlete
raises
them to some higher level need
to be avoided,
not idolized. It is a shame that
those players
do not realize that their talents
are God
given and can be taken away in
the blink
of an eye. It is the fan that
goes to the
game and pays the price of admission
who
keeps these pros in their high
living lifestyle.
No fans, no money. no money,
no job as a
pro athlete. Better hope that
college degree
is in more than something like
a B.S. in
blowing up volleyballs.
And now, our prayer. Dear Lord,
You are wise
and wonderful and You know all
that You have
planned for us. Please grant
us the patience
and the wisdom to recognize that
You are
in control when things do not
happen as fast
as we would like. That all things
work for
the Glory of God. Amen!
Until next time all! Go with
God and Lift
that iron!
